Voice AI without the cloud: why we're bringing it to DigiGov 2026

Every AI vendor at DigiGov this year will tell you their voice technology is transformative. Most of them will be right. What fewer will tell you is where your audio goes after the call ends.

For most of the public sector, that question is the whole problem. Councils, NHS organisations and central government departments have spent the last two years watching promising voice AI pilots stall at the same point: the DPIA. A recording of a citizen calling about housing, benefits or an ambulance is about as sensitive as data gets. Sending it to a hyperscale cloud in another jurisdiction, through a third-party processor, into a model you don't control, is a hard thing to sign off. So, the pilot sits in a drawer, and the interpreter line and the manual QA spreadsheet carry on.

We think that is the wrong trade. You should not have to choose between using AI and keeping control of your data. So, we built our platform to run entirely on your premises.

What "on your premises" actually means

It is a phrase that gets used loosely, so here is what we mean by it. Voice is captured from your existing estate from a single platform (i.e. telephony, Microsoft Teams, contact centre, control room radio etc.), on infrastructure in your building or your private datacentre. Compliance recording, transcription, translation, AI summaries, QA scoring and analytics all run on that same hardware. The models run locally. Nothing is sent to a cloud service to be processed. There is no third-party data processor to add to your register, and no US cloud region to explain to your data protection team.

The practical upshot is a DPIA that can be signed rather than escalated, and a deployment measured in hours rather than procurement cycles.

The second thing we'll be talking about

Alongside the sovereignty message, we'll be showing real-time voice translation. A citizen calls and speaks Urdu, Polish or Romanian; the call handler hears English; the citizen hears their own language back. It happens live, on the call, in both directions, without a callback, without hold music and without a third-party language line. For 999, 111, housing, benefits and social care teams, that changes what a single call handler can do. And because it runs on the same on-premises platform, the audio still never leaves your network.
